Before and After- Microneedling Acne Scarring
What is Microneedling CIT?
Microneedling is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). Tiny needles are inserted into the skin using an approved device such as an ACS “pen.” The needles create micro channels in the skin which stimulate a healing cascade, releasing an abundance of growth factors that stimulate the formation of new collagen and elastin.

What does Microneedling do?
Microneedling improves: scars, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, abnormal pigment and melasma, and large pores. It can be used in most skin types, throughout the year. Darker skin may require supportive skin care.
The usual areas treated are the face and neck and where there is scarring or stretch marks. A serum or combination will be selected to suit your skin health needs. The microneedling micro channels allow for deeper delivery of active ingredients into the skin, for example, ingredients that fade abnormal pigment.
Microneedling is unique because it can improve melasma, also referred to as the “mask of pregnancy” or chloasma. This sets it apart from many laser and energy based treatments which may worsen this condition. Microneedling is one of the few procedures we recommend for melasma.

What is a Microneedling treatment like?
A typical treatment takes one hour, including time for topical numbing of your skin. Once the numbing gel is removed, treatment with our ACS Pen is quick with minimal discomfort. Post-treatment you will be red and your skin may feel tight. The majority of the redness resolves within 48 hours. Your skin may peel as it heals.
Clinical results are usually seen with a 5 treatment series. Fewer if you want a quick skin refresh. Regular maintenance is also recommended.
