Understanding Mesotherapy and its Related Treatments
LIPODISSOLVE is an innovative form of mesotherapy which dissolves localized fat for loss of inches, spot reduction, body contouring and can target cellulite in some areas. This type of body sculpting is most suitable for patients who are not excessively overweight.
For best results, a Lipodissolve treatment series should be done in conjunction with a low carbohydrate diet and an exercise program.
Sometimes no amount of dieting and exercise can address stubborn fat deposits.
Common affected areas are:
- Saddle bags
- Inner thigh
- Below the glutes/back of thighs
- Wings- areas on the back just behind the arms and above the bra
- Love handles
- Mummy tummy
- Back of arms
- Double chin
Lipodissolve is an alternative to liposuction for localized fat reduction and has the added benefits of safety, ease, speed, control, and cost. In addition, it tightens the skin and targets cellulite which may actually worsen with liposuction.
What Can I Expect from a Lipodissolve Treatment?
Combinations of naturally occurring substances, soy lecithin, and deoxycholate enzyme are given in a series of injections spaced at least 2 weeks apart. On average 1-5 treatments are needed for fat reduction and 2-10 for cellulite treatments. Multiple areas can be treated at once up to a maximum dose. The usual side effects are localized swelling, pain, redness, burning, itching and bruising which resolve over several weeks. Occasionally dents and nodules lasting weeks to months may develop. More serious side effects may also occur but are rare.
In general, the procedure is mildly uncomfortable but most people can return to work the same day. Mesotherapy was first developed in France, Mesotherapy and Lipodissolve are frequently used in Europe and other areas of the world for treatment of fat and other medical conditions. It is not widely used in Canada; yet.
