These preventative health programs are designed to optimize your health today and to build a healthy and vital future for your mind and body. Dr. Sweeney draws from her 13 years experience in traditional medicine, her anti-aging training and from complementary medicine to build an anti-aging program suited to your individual health concern and goals.
Her programs focus on attaining and maintaining optimal physical and mental function through disease prevention and screening, bio-identical hormone replacement for all hormone systems and achieving a balanced lifestyle. She uses diet, exercise, nutritional supplements and stress reduction as first line interventions and will use conventional medical treatments when appropriate.
To get you under way you will need 2-3 visits as well as possible blood, urine and saliva tests.
For those who have already developed age-related illnesses there are modified programs that strive to minimize and possibly reverse disease or disability and reduce future risk.
There are also "fast track" consultations for those on conventional hormone replacement who wish to switch to bioidentical replacement.
Dr. Sweeney also provides assessments and programs for larger groups, retreats and corporations.

Botox Cosmetic
Botox is a purified protein which temporarily relaxes muscles and is used for the treatment of wrinkles that are caused by muscle movements such as frowning and squinting. It gives excellent results for the lines around the eyes and on the forehead. Not only
is this procedure safe but you can return to your usual activities immediately. Benefits last 3-6 months, longer with repeated treatments.
This is a highly individualized service and priced according to the volume (units) used. The most commonly treated sites require 30-50 units, for example, the glabellar frown lines on the forehead.

Botox Therapeutic
Is a safe, effective treatment for many medical conditions and used in children as young as 2. In our clinic we treat TMJ, excessive perspiration, migraine and other headaches and neck pain from muscle tension. Results can last 6-9 months. A consultation is required prior to booking.

Soft Tissue Fillers
These versatile products literally fill in lines and folds and restore lost volume to the cheeks, jaw line, chin and mouth area. They can also be used to reshape or enhance lips, lighten dark under-eye circles and fill in certain types of scars. This procedure may cause swelling and redness which lasts hours to days. We offer anesthetics for improved comfort. Duration of effect varies depending on the product used and site of injection, the range being 4-12 months. We use several different types of dermal fillers, our selection may vary as we continually evaluate what is new and stable collagen. At present we use Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Radiesse. This service is priced according to the volume and the type of filler used. The exact price will be determined at the time of consultation based on the best choice for your individual needs and the area being treated.
Photorejuvenation
Photorejuvenation uses Intense Pulse Light (also called IPL or laser) to treat sun or photo-damaged and aging skin. Light is delivered into the skin in a controlled and safe fashion to target pigment or vascular irregularities. The goal is to improve skin texture and colour and to stimulate skin thickening through collagen production. This treatment works for brown spots, freckles, scaring, stretch marks, rosacea and other forms of dilated blood vessels of the face and body. It does not improve significant wrinkles or folds (see Botox or fillers).
After the treatment you may look as if you have been in the sun with flushing and darkened brown spots. Most people return to their usual activities immediately. Consider combining with Levulan for a more dramatic improvement.
Sun exposure should be avoided while undergoing any IPL treatments
Recommended as a course of 3 but may require 5 treatments to achieve the full benefit.

Skin Tightening
A light based treatment that targets the deeper skin layers to stimulate collagen production. The treatment experience is described as relaxing; the skin feels tingling and warm. Positive benefits include better skin tone and texture. Ideal areas to consider for treatment are the face, neck, decollete and hands. Effects are seen after a course of 5 treatments and evolve over the following 3-4 months.
Blu-U
Blu-U is a gentle treatment where blue light is delivered into the skin, targeting and killing the bacteria primarily responsible for acne. It may be combined with a skin application of Levulan to boost acne treatments or to treat other skin conditions such as rosacea, actinic keratosis and non-melanoma skin cancers.
ACNE
Blu-U is an effective treatment for acne either alone or with Levulan. Blu-U as a stand alone procedure is best suited for mild to moderate acne. 10 weekly treatments of 30 minutes are recommended.
When combined with Levulan multiple aspects of acne can be addressed: excess sebum production, comedones, pustules, papules and cysts. IPL can be substituted to also target the texture, redness and pigment changes often seen with acne. These combinations are better suited for moderate to severe acne. 3 treatments are usually needed to achieve a remission.
Photodynamic Therapy
Photodynamic therapy or PDT is the combination of Levulan with IPL or Blu-U. Essentially, it accelerates their effectiveness. A treatment involves applying Levulan, a clear non-toxic fluid, to the skin and then activating it with either light source. It is an excellent treatment for photo-aging, acne, rosacea, actinic keratosis and non-melanoma skin cancers. It has the added benefit of really improving skin texture and tone (shine, fine lines and pore size). There may be some discomfort during the treatment and peeling or crusting of the targeted lesions 3-6 days later. For many, the enhanced results are worth the down time. 2 or more treatments may be required. Many extended health providers cover all or a portion of this service.

As with many things in life, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts when multiple anti-aging treatments are combined. Here are some suggestions:
- NON-SURGICAL FACELIFT
This is a multi session package where we combine 80 units of Botox, 3 syringes of dermal filler and 3 IPL treatments to deliver a treatment with some real impact. A great idea to get you well on your way to looking your best or revived for an important event.

Permanent Hair Removal
At Live Young we use IPL (Intense Pulse Light) to safely and permanently remove unwanted hair. We can say our results are permanent because we use a more powerful system than will be found in non-medical settings. In addition, we can treat all skin types without compromising effectiveness. In general, 4-6 treatments are required for permanent results. You can return to normal activities post treatment. Like all other laser systems it is not effective for very light or red hair.

Lipodissolve
Lipodissolve is a form of mesotherapy which dissolves localized fat for spot reducing/ body sculpting. A series of injections are given delivering a solution into the targeted fat layer. The solution then breaks up the fat cells. Over the following days the fat is mobilized and used as an energy source. This is effective for reducing localized areas of fat almost anywhere but is not a method of weight loss. Usually 4 treatments are needed for each area treated.
Medical Exfoliation
We use glycolic peels and microdermabrasion to effectively exfoliate dry, dull skin and to treat acne. They are used alone or in combination to improve skin texture and reflectivity. Repeated treatments can even color and stimulate collagen production. The goal is to improve the appearance of fine lines, pore size and sheen. In the case of acne, these treatments help cut down the keratin build up that is of part of the condition. The hyperkeratosis contributes to blackheads and outbreaks.
Most effective is our series of "medical facials" where increasing strengths are used to soften and lift the outer most layer of the epidermis. Exfoliation is an important aspect of any skin care regime because it removes the old outer layer of skin enabling the active ingredients and hydrators in the skin care products to get to the deeper epidermal cells.
These exfoliation treatments can also be used for the body.
Temporary redness and/or peeling may follow a treatment but, typically, no lasting adverse effects occur as these treatments target only the outer skin layer.
